LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin has said that due to the implementation on the eight to ten percent reduction in transport fares, not only fares in transportation of goods will reduce but the prices of essential items will also decrease considerably.
He said that the process of monitoring of transport fares and petrol prices should be continued so that common man could benefit from the edibles at cheaper rates.
He said this while presiding over a meeting at committee room of civil secretariat, today. Besides Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Transport, Industry, Agriculture and Food Departments, Director Special Branch and all commissioners were online on LCD.
Commissioners of Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, DG Khan and Bahawalpur told that Panaflex and banners of new fares have been displayed at bus stands of all districts whereas lists of new fares have also been displayed in the buses.
The meeting was told that checking squads are discharging their responsibilities efficiently for checking prices at petrol pumps. Various petrol pumps involved in overcharging have been sealed while owners have been arrested in different districts.
Commissioners told that not only heavy fines have been imposed to the transporters on overcharging but their vehicles have also been impounded.
Bilal Yasin directed that the monitoring process should be made transparent and government instructions be implemented strictly. He said that the benefits of reduction in prices of petroleum products should be provided to the people.
