MUZAFFARNAGAR: Police have arrested two persons on Monday night for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs worth Rs 10 lakh.The accused were identified as Anuj and Banti, both residents of Mansoorpur. Police also recovered Rs 1.66 lakh cash and a stolen scooter from them. The seized drugs include 1.6 kg charas, 4.4 kg ganja and 1.8 kg bhaang leaves.
According to police, the arrests were made based on a tip-off. Superintendent of police Satpal Antil said, “The main accused Anuj has been in involved in the illegal trade for a long time and has several cases against him under the NDPS Act. Now, Gangster Act will be imposed against them and their properties attached.”
Police in Muzaffarnagar have intensified the crackdown on drug smuggling based on information that a big racket is being operated from the district.
