TOKYO: Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has finally revealed all details about its upcoming 2016 Honda Pilot, which was officially launched by the company, at the 2015 Chicago auto show.
The new car i.e. 2016 Honda Pilot will be rolled out being powered by a new direct injected 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which as per the company’s claim is powerful enough to deliver 280hp and 260lb-ft of torque, which when compared to the ongoing model that has 30hp of extra power and 7lb-ft of extra torque.
The upcoming car is also claimed to be more efficient when compared to the current model, and in order to do that the company has used cylinder deactivation technology in the engine, which helps the engine to save fuel.
It is revealed that with the latest technology, the car will be able to deliver the fuel-economy of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
It is also revealed that along the new 3.5-liter V-6 engine will be able to deliver the power to the wheels of the car being coupled to a new six-speed automatic transmission system on all the models i.e. the LX, EX and EX-L trim levels, but the higher end models will have their engines coupled to a new nine-speed automatic transmission system.
To increase the efficiency of the car, the company has also managed well to decrease the overall weight of the car by 300 pounds. No official announcements have been made about the date on which the new car will be rolled out in the market, but it is expected to be rolled out in mid-2015.
