TORONTO: Mazda has recently introduce its 2016 model of Mazda CX3 compact CUV, which joins the automaker’s growing crossover SUV lineup including compact CX5 and three-row CX9 models.
Mazda CX3 is the fifth vehicle in Mazda’s line-up of new-generation products that feature the full range of Skyactiv Technology and KODO – Soul of Motion design. The five-seat 2016 Mazda CX3 is powered by a direct injection 2.0-litre Skyactiv inline, four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
The similar engine and transmission in the 2015 Mazda3 produces 155 hp and 150 lb/ft of torque. Fuel economy on the Mazda3 is 7.9/5.7L/100 km but it should be a tad higher in the CX-due to the added weight. Available is Mazda’s new-generation AWD system that uses an active torque control coupling first seen on the Mazda CX5.
Mazda claims its AWD system has the world’s first front wheel slip warning detection system that uses sensor signals to accurately monitor the driver’s intentions and constantly changing driving conditions. Suspension is MacPherson struts up front with a torsion beam at the rear with ventilated discs brakes at the front, solid discs at the rear.
