ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Director General Khawar Hanif said that international partnership was mandatory for eradication of the drug menace. ANF organized interaction with international partners in drug control at ANF Academy, Islamabad.
ANF presented an overview of its efforts for drug control. Director General ANF, Major General Khawar Hanif also exchanged his views on the occasion, said a press release. While, presenting anti-drug endeavors, ANF apprised that year 2014 remained a record year in ANF history, whereby 158 tons of narcotics and 101 tons of precursors were seized.
It was also apprised that ANF has taken fast impetus steps for speedy investigations /prosecution, training up-gradation, manpower induction, infrastructure development and canine-unit establishment.
During his talk, he expressed his concerns over increased cultivation of poppy crop in the region, along with its consequences afterwards.
He stressed the need to view this menace as a global problem, and address it without prejudice to any country.
DG ANF emphasized an effective role of destination countries of drugs, from where the demand of drugs and end-user financing basically emerges.
DG ANF affirmed his commitment to promote mutual cooperation and offered his wholehearted support to international partners.
