ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 240 kg heroin, 0.5 kg cocaine and 42.2 kg charas worth Rs 1.639 billion in international market, arresting six drug traffickers including a lady smuggler.
ANF conducted five operations in various cities including Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi. According to details, ANF Karachi on pursuance of an intelligence report, raided a rice godown situated in Sector F-6, Mehran Town, Industrial Area, Korangi, Karachi and recovered 240 kg heroin and 40 kg charas from the godown. An accused present on scene was taken into custody.
As per preliminary investigations, the godown was being used as a cache site and drugs were to be handed over to some other narcotics gang for smuggling abroad, reportedly to Holland. Drugs were tactfully packed in rice boxes. The said godown is owned by a lady namely Mrs. Ruby Kamran, a resident of Karachi.
ANF Karachi Airport team during routine profiling at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, arrested a passenger, identified as Muhammad Iqbal, a resident of Khushab on suspicion of having gulped heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, he confessed of having 65 heroin filled capsules in his abdomen. The accused was proceeding to Dubai by Emirates Airlines Flight No EK-605.
ANF Lahore acted upon source’s information and raided a Fedex Courier Service Office, Lahore and arrested two individuals along with 0.5 kg cocaine from their personal possession. As per initial reports, cocaine was brought from USA and was intended to be delivered to a person namely Allah Yar, residing at Qasur.
ANF Rawalpindi detained a passenger namely Noor Qasim, a resident of Kurram Agency at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad on suspicion of having ingested heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having digested 45 heroin filled capsules. He intended to board for Abu Dhabi by PIA Flight No PK-219. Later on the accused was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital for recovery of heroin filled capsules from his abdomen.
ANF Peshawar during routine checking near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, arrested a lady smuggler namely Samina Bibi, a resident of Rawalpindi along with 2.4 kg charas concealed in a shopping bag. She was arrested from a passenger van coming from Peshawar. As per initial investigation, she was smuggling the drug to Rawalpindi for local consumption.
Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigation is under process.
