ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seizes 62.4 tonne of illegal chemical and 127 kilogramme drugs, arresting 16 smugglers in eight raids throughout the country.
The ANF official confirmed with Customs Today that eight raids were conducted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kasur, Lahore, Gilgit, Peshawar and Karachi, in which ANF recovered 50,400 kilogramme sulfuric acid, 12 tonne hydro choleric acid, 17 kilogramme heroin and 109 kilogramme charas. During operations against smugglers ANF claimed to have arrested 16 smugglers including two women and seized a vehicle.
As per details, ANF Peshawar intercepted a trailer with registration number BLK-9367 near Railway crossing Karkhano Market, Jamrud and recovered 50,400 kilogramme of sulfuric acid which was being transported illegally to Jalalabad, Afghanistan. During the raid ANF arrested four accused Azizur Rehman s/o Wali Khan, Muhammad Ali s/o Wali Khan, Syed Arif Shah s/o Syed Ali Shah and Jan Muhammad s/o Khail Muhammad on the spot when they failed to produce any documentary evidence.
In Lahore, ANF recovered 12 tonne HCL from a container at Kasur Dry Port bound for Nigeria and arrested a woman Nasim Akhtar along with her male accomplice Syed Nazir Hussain Shah.
Similarly, the ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused Abdul Manan, a resident of Diamer with 1.02 kgs of charas. He was arrested from near Toyota Motors Workshop on Ahsan Ali Link Road in Gilgit.
In another raid, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a parcel at APX Courier Service Office in Gulzar-e-Quid Rawalpindi and recovered 1.8 kgs of heroin.
Other raids were conducted in Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gilgit resulting in recovery of huge amount of chemical and drugs.
