KARACHI: With a view to help Pakistan balance its trade, the Australian government will slash import tariff on Pakistani textile to a maximum of five percent. Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Peter Heyward revealed while addressing the annual dinner of Pakistan Australia Business Forum (PABF).
He reiterated the Australian government’s resolve to facilitate Pakistan by slashing tariff on import of textiles, saying that the step would also help Pakistan to balance its trade which was still in favour of Australia.
He said that the PABF was a key partner in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, adding that Australia would continue to encourage Pakistani businessmen to look at the opportunities that exist and take advantage of them to grow their own businesses.
Peter Heyward pointed out that the ICC World Cup would draw attention of cricket playing nations to Australia which was a considerable attraction for Pakistan as well.
Meanwhile, Australian Trade Commissioner Patrick Kearins said that the Australian companies were willing to impart technical training to the Pakistani youth to reduce unemployment and develop their career.
