DHAKA: Bangladesh has earned over 560 million dollars exporting products from fisheries sector in the 2014-15 finanical year, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said on Sunday. The minister came up with the information while responding to lawmakers’ questions in parliament.
The minister said 80 per cent of the fisheries export comes from prawn while 20 per cent comes from other fishes. Replying to another query, the minister said in the 2014-15 fiscal year, Bangladesh earns $103.24 million from vegetables export.
To another query, the government set export target of agricultural products $676.14 million the same fiscal year. The achievement was $586.08 million.
Bangladeshi products are distained for 196 countries now. The minister said armed force division sent a proposal to the commerce minister to export small arms and the matter is under scrutiny.
