LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) joint team Tuesday visited Packages Mall and 18 other retail outlets.
Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Shabbar Raza Zaidi has cautioned the trade community against dealing in non-tax paid locally produced and smuggled goods as Pakistan economy in general and industrial activities in particularly are being seriously affected due to availability of such good in the market.
Therefore, FBR is strengthening its efforts and has started a phased program in this regard which includes verification of documents regarding locally produced goods and import goods.
Accordingly, joint teams of customs IRS have been constituted to visit major shopping areas especially large retailers in Lahore to check sales of imported and locally produced goods to ensure compliance of national laws.
Therefore, customs team accompanied Inland Revenue team and visited emporium mall in Lahore.
They met branch managers and representatives of the renowned outlets and briefed about the purpose of the visit.
The FBR team carrying production, domestic sales and import data of these outlets. The team sought identification of the imported and locally produced goods and highlighted discrepancies where record of any particular outlet did not commuserate with good being displayed there.
In such cases the outlets were advised to update their returns. The representative of the outlets responded positively to the message with FBR team conveyed them and the names of shops visited included Uniworth Black, Mini So, Tesoro, Saphire Charizma, Rollover, Limelight, Sensation, Outfitters, Warda Engine, Hopscocth, One, Maria B, Cross Stich, Monarch, Charcoal. Ulra Club. Royal Tag.
Similarly today on Tuesday, FBR joint team visited Packages Mall, almost 18 different retail outlets were visited by the team.
Mini So, Urdun Sole, Shirt & Tie. Cross Stitch Limelight, Warda, Maria B. Uniworth Black. Charcoal. Ulra Club. Royal Tag. The FBR team visited to The Mall remained peaceful and no resistance was faced.
