QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) has seized huge quantity of Indian gutka from a 10-wheeler truck. The value of goods along with vehicle amounts to Rs33 million.
Sources said that on the instructions of Chief Collector Baluchistan Gul Rehman, Collector Irfan Javed and his team comprising Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar, Deputy collector Akbar Jan, Superintendent Tariq Sultan and other including Inspectors Shabbir Khan, Rehmatullah Khan, Ishaq George enhanced vigilance and keeping strict monitoring of traffic.
During the course, a vehicle was spotted and intercepted, and the checking led to recovery of huge quantity of Indian Gutka. Customs team registered a case against the owner of the vehicle and started investigation.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Irfan Javed directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
