QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods including narcotics and vehicles worth Rs200 million.
Sources said that on the instructions of Chef Collector Gul Rehman and Collector Irfan Javed have enhanced vigilance on the transportation routes to thwart any attempt of moving smuggled goods.
Additional Collector Yaseer Wahab Kalwar, Deputy Collectors Akbar Jan and Malik Muhammad Ahmed have strengthened the intelligence network.
The Customs team intercepted a vehicle at Darakhshan check post and recovered 90 KG of charas from the secret cavities of the vehicle. The narcotics were being transported to interior country. A case has been registered and investigations are underway.
Moreover, Customs team in separate operations at Dr. Abdul Qudoos Sheikh check post, Nokandi, Rakhni and Chaman seized large quantity of smuggled goods including 16,000 liters of smuggled diesel, 10 tons of cloth, 3 tons of betel nut, tyres, auto parts, cigarettes and 41 NCP vehicles.
Superintendent Tariq Sultan, Inspectors Shehzad Akhtar, Zaman Mazari and Ishaque George took part in the operations.
Sources said that customs teams after registering separate cases of smuggling against accused persons started further investigations.
