QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Preventive impounded huge quantity of smuggled goods wroth Rs126 million during intelligence based operations (IBOs).
Sources told that Collector Preventive Irfan Javed directed anti-smuggling squads comprising Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kalwer, Deputy Collector Akber Jaan, Superintendent Tariq Sultan and Inspector Shehzad Akbar to adopt comprehensive policy against smuggling and also enhance vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods.
As a result of strengthened intelligence network and monitoring of all suspected routes, Customs (E&C) Chaman of MCC seized large quantity of foreign origin spices and dry fruits along with two transporting vehicles. The value of seized goods is Rs24 million.
Moreover, Customs Check Post, Darakshan-Bolan of MCC (Enforcement & Compliance), Quetta with the assistance of Frontier Corps Balochistan seized large quantity of betel nut, base oil, Chinese salt, milk powder etc. along with five trucks. The value of seized goods is Rs102 million.
Two FIRs have been registered and further legal proceedings are underway.
