LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sunday seized Rs1000 million Afghan transit dry fruit from two private warehouses namely M/s Kashmir Cold Store and M/s Zain Cold Store located at Band Road.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Enforcement and Compliance Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid dry fruit are dumped in two godowns located at Band Road.
The Collector immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad consisting Assistant Collector Ali Tauqir and Inspectors including Rao Mansoor, Abdul Hameed Bhatti, Asghar Poorewal, Hafiz Mubashir, Moazam Khan, Yasir and others raided the godowns.
The anti-smuggling squad recovered dry fruit includes raisins, walnuts, pistachio, dried apricot, dates and other perishable items.
Sources told that Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization registered a case of smuggling and started further investigations.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
