KARACHI: The Customs Court granted bail to suspect Azam Waheed, owner of M/s Marosh against surety of Rs300,000 and directed him to make sure his appearance on next date of hearing without fail, who was allegedly involved for mis-declaration of description, misuse of green channel, under valuation of goods in violation of valuation ruling 1282/2018.
On 26 October 2021, during the hearing, counsel for the above mentioned suspect filed bail application and argued that his client is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case, who is ready to submit surety and assured this court to attend each and every date of hearing.
Earlier, investigation officer of Customs Appraisement West submitted a progress report and informed the court that credible information was received that M/s Agility & Co, M/s M.A.W & Company, M/s Marosh and others are involved in clearance of sanitary goods through misuse of green channel facility of WeBoc system by under valuation of the goods by declaring misleading description.
He further informed the court that during the examination, customs officials found Pedestal Pan with seat cover, Pedestal Pan with cistern 1 PC, squatting pan with cistern instead of declared goods, water closet etc.
He added that during the investigation, it was established that beyond reasonable double that the above-mentioned importer, with their co-conspirators, accomplices, abettors, financers, facilitators, and any others (to be identified during the course of investigation) have breached the trust extended to them in the form of green channel facility and deprived the govt exchequer of legitimate duties and taxes to the tune of Rs12,223, 841.
