KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer of Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation-Customs to conduct investigation and submit progress report for next date of hearing, against those who are involved in smuggling of Iranian High Speed Diesel worth Rs5,821,000.
On 27 March 2021, during the hearing, investigation officer submitted first information report (FIR) and informed the court that a credible information was received in the office of directorate general of I&I to affect that smuggled/ non-duty paid Iran origin High Speed Diesel Oil would be transported through Hino Oil Tanker bearing registration number TUC-649 from a secret private deport to Karachi.
He submitted that for its further disposal and illegal sales, in pursuance of the said information, a team of officers of ASO was constituted to foil the attempt to transportation and further disposal of said smuggled/ non-duty paid HSD Oil and said oil tanker was found near Northern Bypass, Karachi and one suspected of said oil tanker parked the vehicle on roadside and managed his escape, on search of the said oil tanker, foreign origin high speed diesel were recovered from the aforesaid vehicle. Escaping driver was chased but could not apprehended.
Investigation officer argued that prosecution is trying its best for arrest of driver, owners and other culprits, who are involved in this crime and they would be produced before the court when arrested.
After the hearing, court took FIR into court record and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report for next date of hearing.
