QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance has expedited efforts against smuggling and in the ongoing drive against smuggling Customs E&C in coordination with FC (North) Balochistan has seized 9 buses loaded with huge quantity of non-duty paid goods from Panjpai area (district Mastung) parked in a compound for transportation to upcountry .
Sources told that Chief Collector Saifuddin Junejo directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. After these directions customs anti-smuggling squads enhanced patrolling in the jurisdiction to foil any attempt of smuggling.
Sources told that credible information was received that some vehicles are parked in Panipai area loaded with smuggled goods. After receiving information customs anti-smuggling squads raided the area and recovered Ajinomoto salt 47.6 MT, almonds 32 MT, betel nuts 30.8 MT, cloth 11.03 MT, cashew nuts 7 MT, whey/milk 4.3 MT, gutkha 420,000 pouches, blankets 2.20 MT, raisins 2.1 MT, black tea 2.04 MT, auto parts shampoo, carpets, tyres and other miscellaneous goods.
The total value of seizure is approx Rs.211 million.
Further legal proceedings are still underway. Member Operations Syed Mohammad Tariq Huda and Chief Collector Saifuddin Junejo, Collector Customs Preventive Irfan Javed appreciated the staff to thwart attempt of smuggling.
