KARACHI: The Directorate Reforms and Automation (Customs), Karachi needs at least four Deputy and Assistant Directors and two Additional Directors for smooth functioning of the department.
The Directorate is facing an acute shortage of BS-17 to BS-19 officers and fears that if the strength of officer is not increased it would not only adversely impact the analysis, development, designing and deployment of the WeBOC system but would also result in extending the timeline for WeBOC’s closure.
The Directorate is working with two officers of BS-17 to BS-18 against six sanctioned posts. Earlier, four BS-19 officers were posted out of the Directorate while only two were posted in the Directorate.
Moreover, one of the three Deputy Directors, Ali Zeb Khan, who was selected under Australian Aid Scholarship Programme, is scheduled to join his course in Australia from January 1, 2015. Similarly, Additional Director (BS-19) Fayaz Rasool was also selected for the same scholarship and he too would be proceeding to Australia.
The posting of officers has become all the more important because the Directorate has been assigned additional designing and development works of new modules in the WeBOC system for other regulatory authorities. These designing and developments work require not only strengthening of workforce but also extensive coordination with the relevant ministries and attached departments.
