LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to stop intelligence units of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from conducting raids at paint manufacturing units, which are creating unrest and harassment among the business community.
LCCI Acting President Mian Tariq Misbah and Vice President Kashif were talking to a 50-member large delegation of paint manufacturers here at the LCCI.
The LCCI office-bearers said that it was very unfortunate that despite clear direction of the finance minister and Punjab chief minister, the bureaucracy was creating an atmosphere of harassment for the businessmen who are backbone of the economy.
They said that the manufacturing sector was already passing through very critical times due to unavailability of needed electricity and gas and in dire need of handholding by the government to run their businesses.
The LCCI office-bearers said that it came into their notice that the officials of FBR intelligence units were not only hurling arrest threats on the owners of paint manufacturing units but also confiscating record of these units.
