HYDERABAD: Keeping in line with the directions of Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, Director General, Intelligence & Investigation Customs, Islamabad to curb the menace of smuggling, the Director Dr. Sadiqullah Khan, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Customs, Hyderabad directed Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi, Deputy Director, Sukkur to keep extra vigilance on the movement of contraband goods coming from Balochistan.
In pursuance of credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods would be transported from Quetta to upcountry loaded on different vehicles mounted with 40’ containers, the team of ASO Wing, Sukkur with the assistance of 51 Wing Sindh Rangers intercepted vehicles bearing registration number SEB-325, TLC-212 and TLC-886 at Kashmore.
Upon detailed examination, the following foreign origin goods were recovered from the trailers/containers:-
- Smuggled Chinese origin Assorted Fabric 32,762-Kgs Rs40.14 million
- Smuggled Foreign origin Used Tyres for LTV 2,233-Nos. Rs17.85 million
- Smuggled Iranian origin Skimmed Milk Powder 3,625-Kgs Rs3.625 million
- Trucks /Trailers all mounted with 40` Containers Three Units Rs15.00 million
Total: Rs76.62 million
The above mentioned goods have been seized under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and notice under Section 171 ibid has been issued accordingly. The market value of the case is approx. Rs76.62 million.
