LAHORE: A delegation of FPCCI Regional Standing Committee on Glass, Ampoule and Tubing called on Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzeb Akram.
He called on Amir Saleem Butt and apprised him of the issues facing his sector. He apprised Khawaja Shahzeb Akram, Senior Vice President, FPCCI of the issues facing his industry and said that the duty structure should be improved.
There is an urgent need to fix it. Glass tubes and ampoules are imported at one dollar and its value in Pakistan is fixed at two dollars. Wrong valuation should be eliminated immediately. Due to excess import duty and incorrect valuation, the monopoly of one company is established which leads to shortage of glass ampoules and life saving medicines become more expensive. There is no sales tax on medicines but 17% sales tax is also levied on tubes and ampoules.
Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzeb Akram assured the delegation of Regional Standing Committee on “Glass, Ampoule and Tubing” that the problems would be solved and demanded from the government to fix the duty structure immediately so that life saving drugs could be introduced. Don’t be expensive.
He further said that FPCCI is taking all possible steps to solve the problems of the business community.
