ATHENS: Euro hit by Greek worries the euro is suffering from Greek uncertainty today. The single currency has fallen 0.7% against the US dollar today to $1.073. It’s down 0.5% against sterling too, at 71.9p — meaning one pound is now worth €1.391.
Against the Australian dollar, the yen appreciated to 92.59 from an early more than a 3-week low of 93.14. At Friday’s close, the yen was trading at 92.49 against the aussie. On the upside, 90.00 is seen as the next resistance level for the yen.
Moving away from early near 2-week lows of 128.74 against the euro and 125.11 against the Swiss franc, the yen edged up to 127.81 and 124.33, respectively. The yen closed Friday’s deals at 128.41 against the euro and 124.79 against the franc. If the yen extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 125.60 against the euro and 121.80 against the franc.
