LAHORE: Pakistan’s exports have expanded by 4.64 per cent while imports witnessed an increase of 0.48 per cent during the period from July to January in the current fiscal year as compared to the same period of last fiscal year, official data revealed.
The exports from the country during the period were recorded at $ 14.699 billion against the exports of $ 14.047 billion recorded during July-January 2012-13, the data said. The imports into the country during the period under review were recorded at $ 25.808 billion against the imports of $ 25.685 billion during the corresponding period of last year.
On month-on-month basis, the exports from the country in January 2014 increased by 1.88 per cent to $ 2.061 billion when compared to the exports of $ 2.023 billion in January 2013. On the other hand, the imports into the country increased by 9.94 per cent by going up from $ 3.763 billion in January 2013 to $ 4.137 billion in January 2014, the data revealed.
Exports in the month of January 2014 decreased by 9.41 per cent as compared to exports in December 2013 worth $ 2.275 billion. The imports increased by 16.18 per cent in January 2014 when compared to the imports of $ 3.561 billion in December 2013, the data disclosed.
