FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication settled 16 cases of smuggling recovering Rs 34.86 million during October 2015.
As per details, the cases, which were lodged by Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad, have been decided in favour of the departments as the respondents remain failed to provide any legal arguments before the court.
The adjudication heard cases of smuggled cloth, vehicles brought into country through illegal means, black tea, smuggled pine nuts, generator, and other items during the said period.
As per details, Customs Adjudication Collectorate Raja Tahir Majeed decided four cases involving Rs 23.160 Millions, while Additional Collector Beelam Ramzan settled three cases involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 5.800 million.
Meanwhile, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed solved nine cases involving Rs 5.9 million and announced decisions in favour of Customs Intelligence.
