FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 402.43 million during the month of January 2020.
Director I&I Adnan Akram conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region. However five cases of smuggling were registered against suspects.
These special squads of Customs Intelligence and Investigation raided in different areas of Faisalabad during January and confiscated large amount of smuggled goods which includes foreign origin cloth, cigarettes, gutka, LEDs, computers, electronics goods of different brand and models, diesel and narcotics.
The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969 after the owners failed to produce any document showing the legal import of the items.
The intelligence officers including Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officers Muhammad Saleem Mansoor Nasir and other staff participated in the raids.
However seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
