LAHORE: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Mian Nasir Hayat has criticized the harassment and arrest of a businessman by the NAB on the premises of the esteemed Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He added that government officials had repeatedly assured the FPCCI that traders would be treated with respect and given due respect under the basic human rights enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan. Nasir Hayat Magun reiterated that it was decided between the FPCCI and the government that the NAB would not take up cases of the business and industrial community.
” Because other legal and constitutional forums are available for them. However, NAB continues to interfere in business and industry affairs”.
Mian Nasir Hayat Magun thanked the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan for taking note of the situation and sought an explanation from NAB officials as to why the arrest was made. While the accused Saif-ur-Rehman was appearing in the court for anticipatory bail proceedings.
Mian Nasir Hayat Magun emphasized that, in fact, businesses pay taxes and create jobs. By running any economy and all civilized societies treat traders with respect and dignity. The FPCCI chief reiterates that harassment and corruption must end and the rule of law must be upheld.
