LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Food Bilal Yasin has said this is the government’s one of the top priorities to provide essential commodities to the masses on affordable prices and all possible steps are being taken in this regard.
The minister said this during his surprise visit to Sunday Bazaars and warned the profiteers against overcharging. Officers of the district administration, market committee, labour and industries departments were also present there.
Meanwhile, the city’s fruit and vegetable markets have witnessed decline in the prices of commodities, however sale remained low after Eidul Azha.
Keeping low business in minds, the vendors kept little stocks of fruits and vegetables in their shops/pushcarts. But, despite decline in the most of the commodities, the rates of winter season fruits and vegetables remained high.
The price of onion was reduced by Re one per kg to Rs30 per kg. The tomato was sold at Rs 40 per kg, while price of Chinese garlic was reduced by Rs 6 per kg, fixed at Rs 106 to 114 per kg.
