ISLAMABAD: The newly-elected president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), Muzzamil Sabri, has said that the government should build small dams to produce low-cost energy and to overcome prevailing power crisis, which will also help grow business activities in the country.
He was addressing the taking over ceremony was at Chambers House, in which a large number of members of business community were also present. Muzzamil Sabri said that self-sufficiency in power generation was vital to boost economy and hydro potential must be utilised for this purpose by building small dams. He further said that small dams could be built on Jhelum, Swat, Punjkora and Chitral River, where a number of suitable sites were available.
Pointing out the Prime Minister’s directions regarding adjustment of overbilling, the ICCI president urged the department concerned to ensure PM’s orders in next bills.
Outgoing ICCI president Shaban Khalid, Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry, Vice President Muhammad Ali Mirza, Abdul Rauf, FPCCI Vice President Munawar Mughal, former ICCI presidents Tariq Sadiq, Khalid Javed, Mian Akram Farid, Zubair Ahmed Malik, Mian Shaukat Masud, Khalid Iqbal Malik, Zafar Bakhtawari, Zahid Maqbool, Ishtiaq Qureshi and members of ICCI congratulated the new office-bearers on taking over charge and hoped that they would make utmost efforts for promoting the interests of business community.
