BUDAPEST: Retail sales in Hungary saw an unadjusted year-on-year rise of 4.2% in May, up from last month’s 4.1%, adjusted for calendar effects, while retail sales rose by 5.2%, up from April’s 5.0%, a first reading of data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday reveals.
Adjusted for calendar effects, the volume of sales rose by 1.1% in food, drinks and tobacco stores, by 9.7% in non-food retail trade and by 5.6% in automotive fuel retailing, KSH data suggest.
In January-May 2015, the volume of sales – also according to calendar adjusted data – was 6.1% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
