ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday adjourned hearing of a case filed by Defence Housing Authority (DHA) against Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC heard the case. The petitioner, DHA, had approached the court to halt FBR Tax Evasion Section’s attempts at seeking DHA projects information and sales tax details.
DHA had filed the petition through its counsel, Rashid Mehmood Sindhu. DHA counsel argued before the court that his client could not share sensitive information pertaining to its operations with FBR. He complained that FBR was pursuing and writing for information time and again. He also informed that court that shareable information had already been provided to FBR.
However, on the other hand FBR counsel, Riaz Hussain Azam had asked the court that FBR had the right to attain information in order to avoid evasion of taxes. He also mentioned that FBR Tax Evasion section had reported doubtful statistics in part of DHA, thereafter the department had sought information from DHA.
After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned hearing of the case till December 14.
