ISLAMABAD: The inaugural ceremony of 26th Specialized Training Programme of the Commerce & Trade Group, Civil Services was held on 15th May 2019 in Pakistan Institute of Trade & Development (PITAD), Ministry of Commerce.
The event was presided over by Secretary Commerce, Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera. Present on the occasion were senior officers from Ministry of Commerce, probationary officers and the faculty of PITAD. The event marked the initiation of the nine months long training program aimed at imparting required knowledge and skills to the officers of Commerce and Trade group enabling them to effectively support government in managing Pakistan’s international trade, domestic commerce & commercial diplomacy. Director General PITAD, Ms. Aaisha Makhdum apprised on the training activities and informed that besides class activities, research and analysis have been an important part of the training. During the course the officers were provided with ample opportunity of interaction with the eminent scholars, economists, representatives of trade and industry, senior government officials and trade officers of Foreign Missions based in Islamabad.
The chief guest, secretary commerce while speaking on the occasion urged the young officers to work with dedication and professionalism to excel in their service. As the country is facing serious economic challenges, the present government is looking forward to the civil servants to perform exceptionally well in their respective fields. The secretary informed that the Commerce and Trade Group is getting more relevant in the current global scenario. This requires enhanced service delivery which should be evident from the professionalism and performance of the officers. Secretary Commerce expressed the hope that the training would play a pivotal role in shaping their future career prospects and asked the officers to make every effort to excel in the career through hard work, positive attitude & above all commitment to your country and its people.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by the Director Training, PITAD.
