LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue (IR) has arrested the owner of a grinding mill involved in tax evasion of millions of rupees.
According to Customs Today sources, a team of Inland Revenue on intelligence information raided and arrested the owner of Ashiq Grinding Mills. Mill owner Malik Khalid was reportedly not paying sales tax since 2007. The IR Intelligence and Investigation Wing detected an imbalance between the sales and transactions of the Ashiq Grinding Mills.
Accused Khalid showed his sales of Rs 37 million, but it was far from the actual sales of the company.
On the directives of Intelligence Director Shahidul Hassan, a team under the supervision of Additional Director Amir Abass and Deputy Director Saad Waqas arrested factory owner Muhammad Khalid the other day on the charges of tax evasion.
It may be mentioned here that the FBR team conducted the raid only after properly investigating the case having evidence against the accused.
