KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange Tuesday witnessed the bearish note as benchmark KSE 100-index down 0.63 per cent, losing 214 points to drop to 33509.48 level till midday.
The country’s biggest stock recorded the highest level of 33768.44 points and lowest level of 33457.72 points, with the total volume of 60,299,450 shares, having Rs4,482,613,292 value.
Despite falling values of shares, the top three traded companies were Engro Fert.XD, Byco Petroleum and K-Electric Ltd. Engro Fert.XD topped the trading companies with a volume of 8,015,500 and price per share of 86.13 (-2.60), Byco Petroleum remained second top trading company with a volume of 6,948,000 and price per share of 11.63 -0.58) and K-Electric Ltd with a volume 5,779,000 of price per share of 7.53 (-0.03).
Earlier, the Karachi Stock Exchange suffered another loss of 106.38 points in early trading as the KSE 100-index dropped 0.32 per cent to 33617.15 points.
On Monday stocks closed flat amid consolidation post quarter end earnings announcements at KSE. Political noise gripped the trading activity after election tribunal ordered re-poll in a Lahore NA seat.
Bulls dominated the market for most of the day, as the market took a nosedive in the last half hour where the index lost almost 300 points. The market closed down 6.43 points and to close at 33,723.53 points.
