MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance has sealed almost 180 illegal petroleum products during ongoing anti-smuggling operation against illegal petrol pumps.
Sources told Customs Today that Multan customs authorities in coordination with the Ministry of Interior engaged in the anti-smuggling activities, have identified 520 illegal POL outlets in South Punjab.
According to the officials, the crackdown against illegal petrol pumps is being carried out in four major cities including Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Multan.
Entry points from Balochistan to these three provinces are being choked up through effective enforcement and deployment of customs.
Out of total 180 illegal POL outlets detected, almost 520 have been identified in the South Punjab anti-smuggling data revealed.
Total market value of seized petrol amounted to Rs80.65 million and diesel stood at Rs38.75 million during this anti-smuggling operation up to 2nd February 2021.
The data on anti-smuggling activities revealed that the anti-smuggling activities in South Punjab remained on top with sealing of 180 illegal POL outlets.
Multan customs authorities in South Punjab have also shown remarkable performance in detention of petrol and diesel during the period under the leadership of Collector Muneeza Majeed. The campaign against oil smuggling, led by the Ministry of Interior, is continuing unabated and showing significantly good results.
