MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of whey powder of worth Rs.15.5 from Multan.
According to details, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Asif Abbas Khan Buzdar received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled items transported through jurisdiction. Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation alerted Customs Intelligence staff in Multan and directed them to enhance monitoring of suspected routes to foil any bid of smuggling in the region.
Customs Intelligence formed special team including Superintendent Nasir Saeed Malik, Intelligence Officer Jamil Haider, Intelligence Officer Adnan Inayatullah, Zafar Iqbal and others to take action against smuggled goods. Following the directions of Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation, the team intercepted two different suspected trucks Shahzore having registration numbers LES-07-5299 and LWN-3304 near14-Kasi bridge vehari road which was loaded with huge quantity of skimmed milk brand namely Pagah Powder Milk. Field Intelligence Unit of Multan recovered almost 6975 kilograms of skimmed milk power. The origin of recovered Milk was Iran and they were smuggled through Baluchistan.
During investigation of Customs Intelligence drivers of the truck told them that truck was coming from Quetta and their final destination was Faisalabad. Truck drivers presented booking receipt of said goods to Customs Intelligence staff. Customs Intelligence unit of Multan seized the entire skimmed powder milk and shifted the skimmed powder milk along with truck to Customs Intelligence State Warehouse Rajapur Office.
Customs Intelligence seized the skimmed powder milk under Customs act 1969 and further investigations regarding the skimmed powder milk were still under process.
