LISBON: The adjusted operational result of Vodafone Portugal fell back 22.8% to £108 million (or €148.6 million) in the financial year through to March 31, according to a statement from the company on Tuesday.
EBITDA was down 6.5% at £289 million (around €398 million) with turnover dipping 13.3% to £771 million (€1.071 billion) said the company presenting its annual report. “In Portugal, we continue to experience a fall in mobile service revenues due to the price pressures from converging packages and reflecting in a prolonged period of intense competition partially compensated by strong growth in fixed revenues,” read the company statement.
Vodafone also announced that it now had 1.6 million households wired up to the optical fibre network it shares with PT Portugal. The fixed service clients now total over 330,000 whilst there was a 164,000 fall in the number of mobile service clients that now total 5.043 million of whom 68.6% opt for the pre-paid service.
