LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Finance Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while taking notice of non-provision of timely medical facilities to pregnant women, has decided to introduce health insurance scheme.
Under this scheme, free facilities will be provided to deserving patients, especially pregnant women for admission, delivery, treatment of newly born babies, emergency operations, general medical facilities and special OBDs facilities in public and government hospitals.
She expressed these views while presiding over a joint meeting of Healthcare Commission and insurance companies. The aim of the meeting was to ask for bids from insurance companies which was attended by Secretary Health and representatives of Adam Jee, Jubliee, Askari, State Life and EFU Health Insurance company.
Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said that this scheme will be initially started as a pilot project from four districts including Layyah, Rajanpur, Chakwal and Hafizabad and after its success, its scope will be expanded.
The Provincial Minister said that Punjab government wants launching of scheme as soon as possible, therefore, companies should submit their proposals immediately.
