LAHORE: Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda), in collaboration with University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore has organised an awareness seminar on ‘Entrepreneurship as Career Option’ at the university’s premises.
UET Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Professor Dr Parvaiz Mughal, in his opening address, highlighted the objectives of the seminar and underlined the importance of youth towards education and development of their skills in pursuance of entrepreneurship as a career option. He said that the country was faced with challenges like unemployment and entrepreneurship was a solution to the country’s woes.
In his address, Smeda Manager Javed Afzal said the body had a wide network of regional offices in major cities of Pakistan and was involved in providing business counselling. He said that alongside other business development services to the young people aspiring for setting up their small businesses.
Javed Afzal also briefed the students about the various development projects of SMEDA that have been established with the help of funding provided by the government for the development and promotion of related business sectors in the country.
He emphasised upon the participants to pursue entrepreneurship as a career option and also avail the business development services from various initiatives of SMEDA and other relevant business support organisations in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, PECS Industries CEO Abid Iqbal also shared his entrepreneurial experience and progressive growth with the audience. He said that the country is also rich in the human resources and needed encouragement.
