LONDON: Yildirim Group subsidiary Yilport Holding has acquired 100% shares of Gävle Container Terminal and Baltic Sea Gateway, claiming the rights to operate container, bulk, general cargo, rail and CFS services in Port of Gävle terminals as part of a 40-year concession.
Following an ambitious growth plan to be in the global top 10 port operators in the world by 2025, Yilport has been actively acquiring ports and terminals. This deal marks its second long-term concession in the Nordic region, the first being its 20-year deal for Port of Oslo.
Chairman of Yilport Holding Robert Yuksel Yildirim said: “We are delighted to enter into a 40-year concession agreement with Port of Gävle. Gävle welcomed us in 2014, when we acquired 80 percent shares of Gävle Container Terminal. Today, Yilport is very happy to be awarded the remaining 20 percent shares and Baltic Sea Gateway terminal as well.
“We are excited to bring our experience to BSG and GCT, expand further and offer end-to-end terminal services in Gävle. We welcome new terminals in our portfolio, and take another step towards our goal to be ranked among top 10 international port operators by 2025. As part of this objective we strive to enhance our global presence further.” Yilport currently operates 22 terminals across seven countries, mostly located in Europe.
